Scores use Cape Town’s own scale. A minimum is not a guaranteed place.
NSC percentages are used directly as points. APS = English plus the five next-best subjects (six subjects), excluding Life Orientation and Advanced Programme subjects, but including any subject the programme requires; a subject below 40% scores 0. Max APS 600. FPS: in Commerce, Engineering & the Built Environment, Humanities and Law, FPS = APS (out of 600). Science doubles Mathematics and Physical Sciences (out of 800). Health Sciences adds the three NBT scores (out of 900). For SA applicants, WPS = FPS + (disadvantage factor x FPS), the factor being 0-10% (0-20% in Health Sciences).

Cambridge (A Level, AS Level, IGCSE)
Subjects score 0-10 on the Admission Points Table (p. 16); the percentage APS/FPS is for NSC applicants only. Commerce: 5 subjects (3 A Level + 2 AS/IGCSE, or 4 AS + 1 IGCSE), 36 of 50 (40 Actuarial Science). Science: 34 of 50. Humanities: 6 subjects, 32 of 60 (likely 38). Law: 40 (SA) / 44 (intl). Health Sciences: MBChB 40 min / 46 likely plus NBT Proficient; BSc Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology 36 min / 44 likely plus NBT Higher Intermediate. Engineering uses grades only.
A Level: A = 10 pts · B = 9 pts · C = 8 pts · D = 7 pts · E = 6 pts
AS Level: A = 8 pts · B = 7 pts · C = 6 pts · D = 5 pts · E = 4 pts
IGCSE / O Level: A = 6 pts · B = 5 pts · C = 4 pts
Subject minimums: Given as grades, not percentages, per programme. Commerce: Maths A Level C or AS B; English A Level E / AS D / IGCSE B (Actuarial Science: Maths A Level A, or AS A without A Levels; English A Level C / AS B / IGCSE A). Humanities Economics major (NSC Maths 60%) = AS B or A Level D. Science: English C at IGCSE, Maths B at A/AS, Physical Science (or Chemistry or Physics) C at A/AS; which of Chemistry or Physics is needed depends on the major (p. 69). Engineering: Maths B at A Level.
Exemption: USAf matriculation exemption is required before an offer. Applicants who have written only IGCSE/GCSE subjects are not eligible. Humanities gives the exemption minimum as 2 A Levels at E+ plus 3 IGCSE/GCSE at C+ (incl. English and an approved 2nd language), or 4 AS at D+ plus 1 IGCSE at C+.
UCT's table has no A* row (it starts at A = 10 points) and no IGCSE grades below C. Namibian NSSC HL also appears: grade 1 = 8, 2 = 7, 3 = 6 points. The prospectus repeats that meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission and that each application is assessed individually.

The same Admission Points Table (p. 16) converts each HL/SL grade to 0-10 points; the NSC percentage APS is not used. Faculty totals match the Cambridge route: Commerce 36 of 50 on 5 subjects (40 Actuarial Science), Science 34 of 50, Humanities 32 of 60 (likely 38), Law 40 (SA) / 44 (intl), Health Sciences on 6 subjects: MBChB 40 min / 46 likely plus NBT Proficient; Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology 36 min / 44 likely plus NBT Higher Intermediate. Engineering uses grades only.
Higher Level: 7 = 10 pts · 6 = 9 pts · 5 = 8 pts · 4 = 7 pts · 3 = 6 pts
Standard Level: 7 = 8 pts · 6 = 7 pts · 5 = 6 pts · 4 = 5 pts
Subject minimums: Per programme, in grades. Commerce: Maths 5 HL or 6 SL, English 3 HL or 5 SL (Actuarial Science: Maths 7 HL; English 5 HL or 7 SL). Science: Maths Analysis & Approaches 5 HL or 6 SL, Physics/Chemistry 5 HL or 6 SL. Engineering: Chemical, Civil, Mechanical and Mechanical & Mechatronic need 5 HL or 6 SL in Maths, Physics and Chemistry; Electrical, Electrical & Computer and Mechatronics need 5 HL or 6 SL in Maths and Physics only (p. 38). Maths Studies/Applications not accepted.
Exemption: USAf matriculation exemption is required. Applicants must hold the IB Diploma (not the Certificate) and have completed six subjects, at least 3 at Higher Level plus 3 at Standard Level. English Literature is accepted as the English subject (unlike for Cambridge applicants).
IB SL grades below 4 and HL grades below 3 score no points in the published table. IB HL 7 and A Level A both score the maximum 10, so an IB HL grade is worth two points more than the same-numbered SL grade.
