Bachelor of Science in Audiology (BSc Audiology)

University of Cape Town · 2027 intake NSC/IEB check in My Map

First-year tuition (2026): R96 070

Requirements

UCT 2027 example: Mathematics 60% or Mathematical Literacy 70%, Physical Sciences or Life Sciences 65%, English 65%, 60% for the next three best subjects, and 720 FPS out of 900 (school results plus NBT) for guaranteed admission. Selection and 37 places apply.

Band B (likely) is 710 WPS; Band C (possible, SA applicants in targeted redress categories only) is 550 FPS for redress 1, 565 for redress 2 and 610 for redress 3 and 4. Sub-minimum APS of 340. NBT scores of Intermediate or above for AL, QL and Mathematics; applicants with more than 75% for Mathematical Literacy are exempted from the NBT Mathematics test. 37 places; the faculty prioritises first-choice applicants, and meeting the minimum criteria is no guarantee of acceptance. Applications for 2027 closed on 31 July 2026 (UCT does not accept late applications).

Bachelor of Audiology

University of the Witwatersrand · 2027 intake NSC/IEB check in My Map

First-year tuition (2026): R77 250

Requirements

Wits 2027 example: APS 34 or more, English Home Language or First Additional Language level 5 and Mathematics level 4. APS 30-33 is wait-listed, subject to place availability. The NBT is also required. 4 years.

Only 30 places are available in the first year of study; applicants are selected on academic merit (school leaving results and NBT scores). APS 30-33 is wait-listed, subject to place availability, with preference given to higher English results. The NBT had to be written by 17 August 2026 for early feedback. Applications closed on 30 June 2026.

Bachelor of Audiology (KN-W-BPA)

University of KwaZulu-Natal · 2027 intake NSC/IEB check in My Map

First-year tuition (2026): R58 316

Requirements

UKZN 2027: APS 30 (Life Orientation excluded) with English and Life Orientation at level 4, Mathematics at level 3 and Life Sciences or Physical Sciences at level 3. 4 years at Westville.

Only first to third CAO choices are considered, and no late applications are considered (closing date 30 September 2026). Meeting the minimums does not guarantee a place: UKZN selects by academic ranking from APS 48 down until the places are filled. Compulsory clinical placements, some outside Durban, are at the student's own cost for travel, accommodation and living.

Your qualification route
  1. Complete a dedicated audiology qualification with clinical training.
  2. Complete the applicable HPCSA registration and community-service requirements before independent practice.
  3. Build experience in hospitals, hearing services or a registered practice; specialise through further training.

Audiology is different from speech-language pathology. A general psychology or science degree does not qualify you as an audiologist.
