UCT 2027 example: Mathematics 60%, English 50% (Home Language) or 60% (First Additional Language), and 435 FPS for guaranteed admission (Band A); Band B needs 470 WPS. NBT AL and QL at Upper Intermediate or above also apply.
NSC/IEB minimums can be checked in My Map using your results. Other curricula need a separate programme check.
Band A (guaranteed) FPS of 435 or above; Band B (likely) WPS of 470 or above; Band C: FPS of 430 to 434 gives possible admission into the Education Development Unit only (SA applicants in targeted redress categories). All applicants to Commerce must write the NBTs: scores of Upper Intermediate or above for AL and QL. The guidelines do not guarantee admission; study offers are limited for reasons of capacity. An offer to Commerce lets you choose either degree and any specialisation whose entrance requirements you meet. Applications for 2027 closed on 31 July 2026 (UCT does not accept late applications).
Stellenbosch 2027: NSC aggregate of at least 65% (excluding Life Orientation), Mathematics 60%, and English or Afrikaans Home Language 50% or English or Afrikaans First Additional Language 70%. The 2027 selection criteria are higher: NSC average 70% and Mathematics 63%.
NSC/IEB minimums can be checked in My Map using your results. Other curricula need a separate programme check.
Published minimums only. To receive an offer, applicants must also meet the Faculty's 2027 selection criteria: NSC average 70% and Mathematics 63%, the highest thresholds that will be applied; they may be lowered at the final offer stage to meet diversity and intake targets. Late applications will not be considered.
UJ 2027 example: English level 4 and Mathematics or Technical Mathematics level 4; APS 26. Mathematical Literacy is not accepted.
NSC/IEB minimums can be checked in My Map using your results. Other curricula need a separate programme check.
Published minimums only. Selection, bachelor admission, any extra requirements and available places still apply. UJ ranks all applicants from highest to lowest APS when it makes final selections in January, and says that meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee a place.
UKZN 2027: APS 30 (Life Orientation excluded) with English, Mathematics and Life Orientation at level 4. Marketing is a specialisation (major) within the 3-year B Com (General).
NSC/IEB minimums can be checked in My Map using your results. Other curricula need a separate programme check.
Published minimums only: UKZN selects by academic ranking from APS 48 down until the places are filled, and meeting the minimum does not guarantee a place. Apply through the CAO for the B Com (KN-P-BC1 Pietermaritzburg / KN-W-BC1 Westville); the specialisation is chosen within the degree. Applicants with APS 35 and English, Life Orientation and Mathematics at level 5 are considered for early selection. Closing date 30 September 2026.
UFS 2027 example: AP 28, English level 4 (50%) and Mathematics level 3 (40%). 3 years (Bloemfontein).
NSC/IEB minimums can be checked in My Map using your results. Other curricula need a separate programme check.
Not a selection programme. Published minimums only: the prospectus says meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission, as limited space is available in each programme; final admission is subject to space and academic results. Applications for non-selection programmes closed on 30 September 2026.
Rough guide: whole degree = first-year tuition × years. Fees rise every year; add books, equipment, transport and living costs.
