Requirements

UP 2027 example: English level 4, Mathematics level 4, Physical Sciences OR Life Sciences level 4; APS 28. Selection applies.

Selection applies; 50 places. Grade 11 conditional and final Grade 12 selection. A fall greater than 5% in merit-point score from selected Grade 11 results can forfeit placement. Applications for 2027 closed on 31 May 2026.

Your qualification route
  1. Complete a recognised veterinary nursing qualification and its practical training.
  2. Meet the South African Veterinary Council requirements for registration.
  3. Develop clinical nursing experience across animal species and permitted practice settings.

Veterinary nursing is distinct from veterinary science. It does not qualify you to practise as a veterinarian.
