2027 published example: English level 5, Mathematics level 4 OR Mathematical Literacy level 5; APS 32 with Mathematics or 33 with Mathematical Literacy.

Wits 2027 example: English Home Language or First Additional Language level 5, Mathematics level 5, and Life Sciences and/or Physical Sciences level 5. No APS: selection uses a Composite Index with the NBT. 3 years; an Honours in Biokinetics follows for professional training.

No APS is published: Health Sciences selects on a Composite Index of five matric subjects (percentages) and the NBT average, weighted 60% and 40% in the 2027 Guide but 75% and 25% on the Wits course-finder page (Wits publishes both). All applicants must write the NBT in person, by 17 August 2026 for early feedback; a 'Basic' NBT range means no consideration. Applications closed on 30 June 2026. This is an entry-level degree: if you major in Physiology and Exercise Science you can apply for the Bachelor of Health Sciences with Honours in Biokinetics, which allows you to pursue professional training as a biokineticist.

NWU 2027 example: Mathematics level 3 OR Mathematical Literacy level 4, Physical Sciences OR Life Sciences level 4, level 4 in the language of tuition (English or Afrikaans) and APS 32. Potchefstroom, 4 years.

Selection course: academic paper selection on best average mark; meeting the minimums does not guarantee a place. Students must be medically fit for the physical component of the course before starting. NWU's 2027 table says 'Applications close 31 July' for this programme, while its Selection page says 'All Other Selection Courses: 30 June'. NWU undergraduate applications for 2027 are closed.

UFS 2027 example: AP 30, English level 5 (60%), Mathematics level 4 (50%), and Life Sciences level 4 (50%) and/or Physical Sciences level 4 (50%). Selection programme; 4 years (Bloemfontein).

The current School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences selection policy (written for the 2026 intake) ranks applicants on a selection mark out of 118 (100 academic, up to 18 non-academic); a maximum of five (5) international students are considered; no fixed number of places is published (numbers follow the UFS enrolment plan).
